A beautiful wine, the 2013 Monteverro sports a thickly extracted and slightly retro style that recalls the heyday of the super Tuscans. It offers a subtle twist of nostalgia, but it does so with a confident personality. Dark fruit, spice, tobacco and cured leather come together as a united front. The blend consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The mouthfeel delivers ample power and textural richness.

Black cherry, milk chocolate and spice flavors are the hallmarks of this powerful red. Still closed on the finish, which remains fresh and ends with a peppery element. Shows fine balance overall. Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2019 through 2027. 1,400 cases made.-BS
Vinous Antonio Galloni 2015 (93 Punkte) Jg 2012
The flagship 2012 Monteverro is quite expressive from the get-go. Mocha, plums, espresso, sweet herbs and licorice all open up nicely. Dark, pliant and expressive, the 2012 offers plenty of Maremma generosity in a mid-weight, polished style that holds considerable appeal. This is another strong showing from the team at Monteverro.
