The 2015 Château de Pez is a blend of 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 51% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Francand 3% Petit Verdot, matured in one-third new oak, the rest in one- and two-year-old barrels. It has a bold and generous nose ofkirsch and blueberry, quite high-toned, but perhaps lacking some complexity underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with grainytannin. It is nicely balanced, gently grippy in the mouth with a harmonious finish,

"This has a ripe yet soft core of plum and cherry fruit backed by a wet earth hint.Pretty, but lacks a bit of vivacity in the end"

Solid and powerful St.-Estèphe with chewy tannins and lots of dark and ripe fruit.Shows no dilution. Structured. Precise

The 2014 de Pez is quite fascinating to taste after the Haut-Beausejour, which also belongs to the Rouzaud family. Here the more typical breath and savoriness of St. Estèphe comes through in spades. Sweet tobacco, mint, dried cherries, smoke and leather wrap around a resonant finish supported by firm yet well-integrated tannins. A blast of smoke, tobacco and incense informs the explosive racy finish supported by beams of salinity that give the wine much of its energy. The blend is 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot.
