Let's begin with the 2012 Caduce. A blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Malbec and Cabernet Franc that hit 13.5% natural alcohol, it reveals abundant white chocolate and black currant fruit intermixed with hints of tapenade and underbrush. It is a ripe, medium-bodied, exuberantly fruity, delicious, seductive wine to enjoy over the next 3-4 years, possibly longer. These exceptional values come from the American broker, Jeffrey Davies, who has lived in Bordeaux for over 30 years. Bouscat has been a consistent winner in just about every vintage I have tasted. Even in the more challenging, complex year of 2012, Bouscat has performed admirably. In ascending levels of ripeness and intensity, the three cuvees (all from a vineyard west of Fronsac).
